***

A Film Biz Reunion will be planned!

Film Biz will also continue to sponsor and host

 its Annual Nonprofit Synergy Night

for all past Film Biz Nonprofits Leaders

to come together and schmooze.

The Film Biz web site will stay current.

FILM BIZ:  THE BIG SCHMOOZEFEST!

Quick summary:  The Film Biz Happy Hour was held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 1996 through late 2004.  Film Biz was a monthly, charitable event that brought together Washington area film, video and media professionals.  A schmoozefest, the business cards were always flying!  Though Film Biz will no longer host a monthly gathering, a Film Biz Reunion will take place!

Writers, directors, producers, cinematographers, composers, editors, actors and voice talent all attended Film Biz to schmooze.  For those who frequented the Film Biz Happy Hour, it was a great opportunity to hang out with colleagues and friends on a monthly basis, all while giving back to the greater community. The Film Biz Reunions will be much the same.

The Film Biz founder and director,  Allison Silberberg, began Film Biz in the summer of  '96 "to create a sense of community for the local film and video industry, not to mention an opportunity for networking on an ongoing basis."  For biographical information about Allison Silberberg, please go to the WHO page.

FILM BIZ & THE NONPROFIT COMMUNITY

Once The Film Biz Happy Hour was fully underway, it became a charitable event.  "We're letting the greater community know that the film and video community cares on an ongoing basis," Ms. Silberberg said.

Since September of '97, Film Biz collected donations at the door, all of which benefited a different local nonprofit every month.  There were several levels of giving, including:  $8, $10, $15, $20 levels and higher.  A minimum donation of $8 (the price of a movie ticket) was greatly appreciated, and it all went directly to the nonprofit of the month.  More than $8 was even more appreciated.  The more we raised, the more we could help those in need.

Please Note:

As of July 14, 2004, Film Biz had given over $50,000 to local nonprofits.

FILM BIZ REUNIONS IN THE FUTURE!

As mentioned, Film Biz has been going strong for well over nine years, has given over $50,000 to local nonprofits and has helped bring film and video professionals and their 22 organizations closer together.  Though the September Film Biz of 2004 will be the last one, a Film Biz Reunion will be planned, and Film Biz will also continue to sponsor and host its Annual Nonprofit Synergy Night for all past Film Biz Nonprofits Leaders to come together and schmooze.  The Film Biz web site will remain up and running.

Thank you everyone for being a big part of this endeavor to reach out to the greater community and for letting them know the film and video community cares on an ongoing basis.  The stalwart support through the years has made Film Biz the success it has become.  A real team effort!
